Travelling with Les(s)

Another Les(s) pun to use!

We are on the road! For a whole month! One Madza CX-5 and the four of us, two adults, a 3 year old and a 9 month old.

So far, it's going pretty well... knock on wood.

We also opted not to take our cargo box, to avoid potential underground parking lot issues.  This meant that we'd have to fit everything in our trunk space. Success, given that we're newfound minimalists. Instead of bringing our double chariot stroller, it's just the single Bob. Since our 3 year old can walk pretty much everywhere. Though, should toddler get tired, we have a Deuter Kangapack (used!) for baby to ride in - that way everyone gets a ride (and a good workout).Bonus, it doubles up as our diaper bag.

This is serious business! ;)

My favorite part about the packing process was being able to fit ALL our clothes into one suitcase! Each person has about 5 to 6 days worth of clothes, depending on stinkiness. Wearing clothes twice before they're washed is completely acceptable whilst travelling ;) The OCD in me is indeed satisfied.

Ikea bags for the win!
It's a good idea to bring along a small duffel bag for those one-night stays at random places so we don't have to haul the entire suitcase up potential 5 story floors. We're learning that one as we go.

Another honorable mention: we rely big time on our baby monitor system (the same one we use at home) to wake us up, and that means having a portable WiFi set up. The ones we had for prior travel were big and bulky (think cereal box size!). My very smart, and creative husband found a teeny WiFi for us to use (the size of your palm!), I'll have to snap some photos of it in action when baby isn't asleep. Plus, he got one of those slim power bars that doesn't take up much space. Light and compact are my favorite words!

Making memories! Even on public transit :)
For those planning to travel with little ones: squeegee food bags are an ABSOLUTE lifesaver. Because our 3 year old isn't used to burning up so much energy in one go, her appetite has gone through the roof. She's eaten more than we've ever seen her eat!!!

To be continued! We are, after all, on day 2 out of 31 days of travel.
